Who Is Brick On General Hospital?

Brick (Stephen A. Smith) is back on General Hospital and all’s right with the world. Sonny Corinthos may have Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) to depend on day-to-day, but when things get serious, he calls on Brick.

This time, the mob boss needed information on Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth), Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey), and all things Pautuck. As usual, Brick delivered.

The mysterious Brick is always there when Sonny needs him, and it’s always a pleasure to watch him on screen.

Every sports fan knows who Stephen A. Smith is. Brick from General Hospital is a sports reporter on ESPN2’S FIRST TAKE. He also hosts his own SiriusXM radio show.

How does a big-time sports reporter end up on a soap opera?

It was all due to Maurice Benard and Stephen A. Smith’s sisters.

“I have four older sisters, and when we came home from school, all the TV’s in the house were on GH,” Smith told ESPN Front Row. “Since I wasn’t allowed outside until I finished my homework, I watched the soap every day.”

Years later, Maurice Benard heard about Smith’s love for his soap when he was a guest on FIRST TAKE in 2015. He then arranged the role of Brick for the sports reporter. The rest is history.

G&H Spoilers – Brick’s History On General Hospital

Sonny’s surveillance expert first appeared on General Hospital in 2016 and popped back in a couple of times throughout the year.

Brick was woven into the storylines of Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) return and of Mike Corbin’s (Max Gail) Alzheimer’s.

In 2019, Brick played a part in tracking down Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and forging records to show that Dev (Ashton Arbab) was a relative of the mob boss. He went on to gather info about Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) when he first came to Port Charles.

He was also a big help to Jason and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) when they believed Sonny was dead.

Brick has a special place in his heart for Sonny’s ex-wife. The two always had a nice, friendly relationship and he helped save the day for her and Jason.

When Sonny first became involved with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), she started trouble by reporting back to him that she saw Carly and Brick together.

They were not at all having an affair, but Brick would not divulge the reason Carly needed him. He is always loyal.

Sonny has once again called on his surveillance expert, and together they will figure out exactly what is going on with Austin and Mason.
