The ongoing WGA Writers’ and SAG-AFTRA strikes have been causing major problems for CBS, so it will be airing Yellowstone on Sunday evenings. This comes as the network’s original scripted shows have been impacted by the strikes. Meanwhile, the Taylor Sheridan hit modern Western series will be ending with part 2 of season 5 in November this year.

Yellowstone to air on CBS due to WGA Writers’ and SAG-AFTRA strikes

Taylor Sheridan’s hit modern Western series will be doing a little channel hopping as CBS is getting short of original scripted shows to air. Like many networks, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have taken their toll on content.

So far, it is unknown exactly how the TV channel got access to the Kevin Costner-led modern Western show. However, Yellowstone will become a weekly regular installment in CBS’s reworked schedule.

The Taylor Sheridan show is to air on Sunday evenings, either at a double bill (8 pm-10 pm), or a single episode (9 pm-10 pm), depending on whether CBS’ NFL coverage overruns. According to Deadline, the Yellowstone reruns will debut with the pilot episode and will then run through all five seasons.

Other shows heading to CBS during strikes

However, the modern Western show isn’t the only show heading to CBS. It turns out SEAL Team and certain episodes of Blue Bloods are also scheduled to fill in for the channel’s missing shows. Meanwhile, BBC’s Ghosts is set to debut on the channel during the fall, which is already hosting the US spinoff. This means that all four seasons of the series will start to air on Thursdays at 9 pm, following a rerun of the US version.

Moreover, this isn’t the first time CBS has aired Paramount+ streaming shows. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it ran past episodes of Star Trek: Discovery.

Speaking to Deadline, CBS’s CEO and president, George Cheeks, said the platform had been assessing which Paramount+ series to air on the channel, saying:

We’re spending a lot of time looking at research and figuring out which are the ones that… have the best shot keeping our audience engaged, but also that could really help drive awareness.

Meanwhile, as previously reported, Yellowstone is streaming on Paramount+ now, while fans of the hit modern Western await the final episodes hopefully in November.
