The Young And The Restless – What Got Doug Davidson Fired Up?

The Young and the Restless is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The daytime soap brought back some of its veteran characters. However, things took a turn when Doug Davidson got fired up and cleared out his dressing room. He’s best known for his role as Paul Williams on the CBS soap.

The vet admitted that he was fired up. It was a “sad” situation for him as he threw shade at the show. On Saturday, July 24, Davidson took to Twitter to share the news with fans. He tweeted, “Well, I cleaned out my dressing room a week ago Saturday.”

The Young and the Restless fans had a feeling that his time on the show was coming to an end. Davidson ended up on recurring status, which means he only appears on the show when his character has a storyline. Eventually, his character was wiped out from Genoa City.

Davidson disagreed with the Y&R crew members. Miscommunication issues were the cause of their rocky work relationship. Rumors swirled in March 2021, when fans noticed that Davidson wasn’t among the cast anymore. His last appearance was in November 2020.

The actor isn’t waiting for the show to let him go. He’s leaving on his own accord. Three years after his last appearance on The Young and the Restless, Davidson officially said goodbye. In his tweet, he noted that he was still saddened by leaving despite his difficulty with the higher-ups.

“It was my home for over 40 years and it was like a ghost town. ‘Price’ has left, and the new owner of TV City isn’t really keeping it up. The sets were all small and a bit tired,” Davidson added.

The studio felt like a “ghost town.” Most of the cast and crew were at home since it was a weekend. Davidson didn’t get the goodbye that he was longing for. Some Y&R fans ripped at his response and called him “sour” for no longer being part of the cast.

Davidson respectfully rejected the fan’s claim. He admitted that he’s forever grateful to the Bell family. Despite the naysayers, Davidson received warm messages from fans and thanked them in a follow-up tweet.
