The developing storyline, where Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri) decided he wanted to live with the Finnegans at the cliff house, would have caused Brooke to speak out. She would have chided Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) for not insisting that Douglas was better off staying with Hope, and Taylor would have told Brooke to back off.

But Steffy sought Brooke’s assistance when she was worried about Taylor. Brooke went to the beach house and offered Taylor an opportunity to move in with her at the mansion. Both ladies will likely present a united front where Douglas’ best interests are concerned.

What will Ridge do during this new era, where his two greatest loves and the mothers of his children have become friends? Well, he will adjust.

Ridge has not stopped caring for Taylor. Yes, he did not remarry her. His response was justified, based on the reveal, where she knew but did not tell about Thomas’ voice-altering application scheme.

Brooke remains the deepest love of Ridge’s life. So, her refusal to allow a reconciliation means that Ridge will be single and deal with the impact on his psyche.
