While Bill was working with the authorities, he brokered a deal. As part of getting Sheila, the feds agreed not to pursue charges against Taylor. She infamously shot Bill in the back after learning he was romantically involved with Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). That happened before Wood’s character met and married John Finn Finnegan (Tanner Novlan).
According to B&B spoilers, Taylor (then played by Hunter Tylo) became incensed and felt driven to the mansion which she sold to Bill many years ago. The sequence, where a shielded shooter put a bullet in Bill’s back, played out like a classic film noir.
Bill righted many wrongs when seeking to work with the government to get Sheila. He also crossed the Rubicon when agreeing to work with Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye).
Rubicon is capitalized because it represented a river between Italy and Gaul, where then-General Julius Caesar led his army across. That law-breaking act eventually led to Caesar becoming the ruler of the Roman world.
So, how does the historical reference connect to Diamont’s character in this daytime drama? Well, Bill sees himself as the Caesar of this portion of California. His acts were so bold and brave that Ridge, of all people in Los Angeles, now holds him in high regard. Taylor, who once wanted him dead, ranks among them.
Bill stopped Sheila because he wanted to protect his loved ones and the children of the next generation from her. His alliance with Ridge was real. It could also produce lasting results.
Ridge’s true love is Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang). He wants her back as much as Bill wants Katie Logan (Heather Tom).
Bill was trying to prove himself to Katie for the past few years. She loves him but can not cross the Rubicon of trust herself based on Bill’s many betrayals.
Taylor’s alliance with Brooke appeared to be the first incredible happening. But as viewers learned, Bill and Ridge secretly forged their bond before Taylor and Brooke became best friends.
If Taylor is serious about sticking to her agreement with Brooke, and she seems to be, then Allen’s character will not use Ridge’s inability to reconcile with Lang’s character as an opportunity. Assuming Taylor can resist a decades-long pull to Ridge, she will be free.
It could be possible that Bill and Taylor’s jailhouse visit to Sheila was just about sending a joint message to their defeated nemesis. Alternatively, Taylor might be open to exploring romance with Bill because that is another seemingly impossible possibility on B&B.
