As The Blacklist fans know, the tenth and final season of the NBC show will premiere this month. While fans are devastated by the news that season 10 will be the last, they do have some excitement to look forward to. In fact, they will get to see Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) face off with his longtime enemy, Wujing (Chin Han).
So far, the show’s bosses have been notoriously tight-lipped about the storylines in season 10 of The Blacklist. Despite this, news of Wujing’s return did slip through the cracks. Fans will recall that the first time they saw the hacker was during season 1 when he was identified as a Blacklister. Moreover, he was screwed over by Red before he was arrested by the FBI SWAT team.
It has been a while, but during the season 9 finale, Wujing resurfaced after Marvin Gerard (Fisher Stevens) passed him the Blacklist before he died. Moreover, Martin also gave Wujing proof that Red was an FBI informant. With the hacker now out of prison, fans of the show can expect to see him plotting his revenge.
So far, it is unclear how many episodes Wujing will feature in. However, Chin Han did open up about the filming experience on his Instagram page. Sharing two images of his character, Chin mentioned the ten years the show has been running, while captioning the post:
Filming The Blacklist Season 1 in 2013 and now The Blacklist Season 10 in 2023 has been a blast in more ways than one.
To be able to revisit a character so many years later is a gift to any actor. Hope you enjoy.
While season 10 is yet to air, it is unlikely that Wujing will deal out vengeance alone. However, by teasing that the tenth season will be “a blast in more ways than one,” this could mean an explosive and fiery reunion with his enemy, Red.
Meanwhile, as Wujing has previously had an entourage of his own, there are likely many mystery villains willing and waiting to take out Red once and for all. However, while this will obviously put Red into action, not much can be said for his own organization. In fact, the task force is likely still reeling from the effect Marvin had on them, as well as the unexpected departures of the two agents.
Those agents are Alina Park (Laura Sohn), who discovered her pregnancy was the cause of her mysterious headaches and decided it was best to step down from her role. Meanwhile, after the task force closed the case of Liz Keen’s murder (Megan Boone), FBI tech expert Aram Mojtbai (Amir Arison) chose to leave to make a fresh start in Boston.
Meanwhile, the synopsis for episode 1 of season 10 did reveal that Wujing will be back to cause chaos. It reads as follows:
Six months after Wujing’s escape from custody, Reddington mysteriously resurfaces in Manhattan amidst an explosion; when a former blacklister is found at the scene, the task force begins to investigate a larger conspiracy at play.
Moreover, while the series bosses have yet to release the number of episodes in the last season, they did hint about the finale episode. In fact, The Blacklist showrunner, Jason Eisendrath, has said:
After 10 years, hundreds of Blacklist cases and more than 200 episodes produced, we’re honored to reach our conclusion.
It’s been incredibly fun to create the strange, devious and delightful Blacklisters to challenge Raymond Reddington and our FBI Task Force each week.
Meanwhile, fans don’t have too long to wait for season 10 as it premieres on NBC on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
