Sophie Wessex Named In Royal Racism Row And She’s Reportedly Not Happy

Sophie Wessex Named In Royal Racism Row And She's Reportedly Not HappyMeghan Markle‘s journo friend Omid Scobie is taking no prisoners in naming royal racists. In his book, he called the then-Countess of Wessex “casually bigoted” for saying Oprah Winfrey is not popular among those who don’t care for chat shows.

Sophie Wessex Once Found Meghan Markle “Likable” and “Engaging”

According to a royal insider, Sophie Wessex did not ignore Meghan Markle as they left a church service in Windsor, as Scobie claimed. In fact, they claim that Sophie went out of her way to befriend Meghan, but was rebuffed in one of the most unkindly of ways; ghosting.

“It was just the two of them at and they talked for hours,“ a senior Royal source said. “Meghan had so many questions and Sophie, who knows what it’s like navigating your way through the early days of transition from a commoner to a royal, gave freely of her advice. Sophie found Meghan likeable and engaging and told her that she could call her any time when she needed advice about dealing with some of the trickier royals.”

“She was quite surprised when that was the last she heard from Meghan. As she noted, it would’ve been nice to receive a return invitation to Frogmore Cottage (where Meghan was then living with Harry and is less than half an hour from Bagshot).”

Sophie Is Often Compared With Meghan Markle

Sophie is often compared with Meghan Markle due to growing up in a middle-class family in Kent and establishing a successful PR firm before marrying Prince Edward.

However, Sophie herself felt that her experiences before marrying into the family were very contrasted by Meghan’s, who jumped in almost as soon as she and Harry started dating.

“Remember I’d had five years to adjust to royal life. And for our six-month engagement, I was even staying at Buckingham Palace. It took me a while to find my feet,” Sophie said in an interview.

Reports suggest that it was the late Queen Elizabeth who suggested that Sophie Wessex coach Meghan, 42, on the ways of being a royal.

However, “Meghan made it clear that she did not feel she needed Sophie’s help. She had Harry,” Gyles Brandreth revealed in his book, “Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait.”
