It’s the Super Bowl for soap operas! Recently, the 50th Daytime Emmy’s announced award nominees in all categories. Needless to say, all the daytime dramas that fans know and love were acknowledged. First and foremost, The Young and the Restless (Y&R), General Hospital (GH), Days of Our Lives (Days), The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B), as well as The Bay were nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. In addition, the writing and directing teams for all the above shows were also given Daytime Emmy nomination nods, as well as Beyond Salem: Chapter Two.

When it comes to Daytime Emmy nominations in the Outstanding Lead Actress category, this year’s nominees are Michelle Stafford (Y&R Phyllis Summers), Melissa Clair Egan (Y&R Chelsea Lawson), Sharon Case (Y&R Sharon Newman), Finola Hughes (GH Anna Devane), and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (B&B Steffy Forrester).

Alternatively, the men nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor, include Thorsten Kaye (B&B Ridge Forrester), Billy Flynn (Days Chad DiMera), Maurice Benard (GH Sonny Corinthos), Peter Bergman (Y&R Jack Abbott), and Jason Thompson (Y&R Billy Abbott).

Over to the Supporting Actress category, the late and great Sonya Eddy (GH Epiphany Johnson) has been nominated, as well as her colleagues Kelly Thiebaud (GH Britt Westbourne), and Brook Kerr (GH Portia Robinson). Rounding out the nominees in this category include Krista Allen (B&B Taylor Hayes) and Stacy Haiduk (Days Kristen DiMera).

The men nominated in the Supporting Actor in a daytime drama category are dominated by Port Charles players and include Jon Lindstrom (GH Ryan Chamberlain and Kevin Collins), Chad Duell (GH Michael Corinthos), Nicholas Chavez (GH Spencer Cassadine), Robert Gossett (GH Marshall Ashford), as well as Salem’s Daniel Feuerriegel (Days EJ DiMera)
