Sister Wives star Meri Brown, was the first wife to marry Kody Brown. Later, she divorced him so he could adopt Robyn’s kids. However, TLC fans think that he had just tired of her and preferred his new wife. Now that he sent her away, did he finally do her a kindness? Read on to find out.
For years, TLC fans watched Kody Brown treat his former first wife very badly. They tried marriage counseling and that failed time after time. So, fans were unsurprised that she looked for love with the catfish. However, she went back to him and literally groveled for forgiveness. But, he never really gave her any more love. Despite her unwavering faith in their spiritual marriage and the principle of polygamy, Kody’s continuous humiliation of her on TV and his outspoken lack of love for her took a toll on her mental health.
During the Season 17 Tell-All of Sister Wives, Meri confirmed that they had gone their separate ways. Later, it emerged that Kody actually told her to go. In the trailer for Season 18, a scene revealed him saying that he had no idea why Meri even stays on in Flagstaff. In fact, he really didn’t know what to do with her. Later, spoilers revealed that he loaded up her stuff and drove it to Parowan where she owns her BNB.
Meri had followed the family around like a desperate puppy wanting attention for years. No matter how brutal he was, she kept on waiting for an ounce of affection from him. So, fans grew angry because she was not empowering women. On her social media, she seemed unable to fully explain why she hung around. However, it seems that her Mormon faith had a significant impact on her decision to remain in her marriage, as she believed that she would be Kody’s spiritual wife for all eternity.
It seemed that the Sister Wives star felt morally obligated to stay and work things out, even when Kody made it clear that he no longer loved her. When Kody finally told her to go, did he actually deliver her a way out that she had waited for all these years? After all, if he sent her away, then she wasn’t the one breaking any oath before God. Rather, he was. And Meri alluded to that in the trailer for Season 18.
Kody Brown is not known for compassion and kindness. Therefore, was his decision to finally tell her to leave done out of kindness? After all, it took the worry off her making the decision to break her spiritual oaths. Actually, he hurt Meri very deeply over the years, and his constant criticism and public shaming probably gave her a lot of mental distress.
Sister Wives Fans can probably safely assume that kindness had nothing to do with it. For some time, Kody Brown questioned whether polygamy was actually for him. That probably meant that he started to backslide with his own faith. More than likely, Meri was an annoyance, and he just kicked her to the curb because he no longer cared about his spiritual kingdom. Do you agree? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
