Some fans believe that Kody has placed himself in charge of the finances considering everything that has happened. The Apostolic United Brethren, technically the church Kody believes in, tends to have that man be the leader of the family and the finances. However, Kody always had Janelle Brown to help him with finances before.
The family used to get together and decide what to spend money on as a group and Janelle was part of the decision-making duo. However, it seems that has unfortunately changed now that Janelle is no longer in the picture. Janelle might not have been the man of the household but she was the business sense in the group.
Over the years, it would make sense that the Browns earned millions of dollars from TLC. From published reports about another TLC series,
“For those docu-ensembles, especially if they’re nobodies, per episode it ranges from low-end, like $1,500 an episode, to $3,000 at the high end,” Business Insider reported. “And then after three years of success, it can go up to $7,000 to $10,000 an episode. After that, you start moving into the Kardashian level.”
If that holds true with Sister Wives, just imagine what 5 adults and 18 children would pull in after 17 seasons and over 200 episodes. Even on the low end, they would have made millions of dollars. Kody’s family may not have achieved Kardashian status, but that is still money to pay bills and to fund Kody’s dream of building on Coyote Pass.
Fans know that Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown have their own incomes as well. However, Kody wanted the money from the sale of Christine’s house even though she paid for it herself.
That money would have paid off the Coyote Pass property. However, Christine wanted no part of that property after she and Kody split. It seems that Christine sold her property to Kody for $10.
Less than a year ago, Kody and Robyn launched Dabsark Entertainment, LLC. With the recent divorces, it makes sense that TLC is now paying each of the ladies individually. Several of the children are over 18 too which would seemingly cut Kody’s pay.
According to Mykelti Padron and her husband Tony Padron, Kody wants to move once again. Is his $1.5 million home too much for Kody now or a way to pay off Coyote Pass? Perhaps this will be answered in Season 18, rumored to begin in September.
