Sister Wives: Gwendlyn Brown Shares Janelle’s Reason For Leaving Kody: ‘A Breaking Point’

If there’s anyone in the patriarch’s Brown family that’s eager and willing to say things as they are without minding what her dad thinks, it’s Gwendlyn Brown.

Gwen is seen as the rebellious one in the family based on how often she calls out her dad Kody Brown for being a terrible father.

Given that her mom Christine Brown was the first to walk out of her marriage to Kody, she knows a thing or two about the situation of things with her mom’s former co-wife Janelle Brown.

After Christine left Kody in November 2021, the following year, Janelle followed suit, and her reason for that is the same as Christine’s.

In a recent YouTube video posted by the TLC star, Gwen replied to a question a fan asked on whether Janelle left Kody because of Kody’s issues with Janelle’s kids.

On Friday, March 31, Gwendlyn replied, “Absolutely. Because Janelle’s a loyal person and she’s, like, happy and beautiful and perfect in every way, but her kids were going through it with my dad.”

“Seeing them have a hard relationship with my father was probably, like, a breaking point for where she was like, ‘This is just too much, and I don’t want to deal with him anymore if he’s gonna be like this with my kids.’”

Janelle and Kody’s relationship became rocky during the Covid_19 era when Kody made tons of rules that he wants all his wives and children to keep.

In December 2022, it was confirmed that Janelle finally walked away after enduring so much. On Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, a source told In Touch why Janelle wants to leave her marriage to Kody “Janelle is a strong independent woman and realized she can do it on her own.”

The 21-year-old Northern Arizona University student also confirmed to her followers that Janelle’s reason for leaving is the same as her mom’s. “And that’s how it was with my mom, and that’s probably how it is with Janelle.”

Christine once shared that when the wool was pulled off her eyes and she finally read the handwriting on the wall, was when Kody went awol during Ysabel’s surgery.

The “Cooking With Just Christine” star told PEOPLE at the time, “I was there with Ysabel the whole time in New Jersey for the surgery. And I remember them pointing out, like, ‘Are you here alone? Where’s your husband?’”

“I’m like, ‘Oh, he’s not here.’ And they’re like, ‘Whoa, isn’t that hard?’ And I’m like, ‘No, it’s hard for her.’ It’s hard for Ysabel, but it’s not hard for me. It was a good wake-up call. In the end I would’ve preferred to have him there, of course, because it’s what Ysabel needed. But I didn’t need him anymore.”
