So, a meeting of two strong minds was impressive and very interesting. In the episode, they talked in part, about the upcoming appeal for the “Chrisley Knows Best” alums.
USA Network fans who follow Savannah see that she becomes increasingly professional on her Unlocked podcast. Recently she’s been in Las Vegas and she didn’t only focus on her mom and dad in prison. For instance, she had an interesting chat with Dr. Daniel Amen about nutrition and mental health. But this time, she returned to the subject of her mom and dad who are serving a combined 19 years for fraud and tax-related convictions. While she’s no Perez Hilton just yet, she seems to be growing in confidence during her various interviews.
Savannah Chrisley did talk about her mom and dad and their appeal, but she also shared some interesting news. If you thought she was working hard to fight the court’s decision, she isn’t. She told Perez that her mom and dad sorted all of that out before they reported to prison. If you don’t know, Todd and Julie’s legal team have a number of points to file. Actually, they believe that right from the very beginning, there were unacceptable issues in the investigation
Watching the court case play out, didn’t give Perez the full picture as far as Todd’s daughter is concerned. So, she questioned why people didn’t research a bit more. He admitted that he “could have been wrong.” Plus, he felt that pleading guilty would at least have meant way less time inside. The legal process actually “started in 2012,” the USA Network alum said. Perez was shocked when he heard that the judge and prosecutors were “going for life in prison.”
Bear in mind, that the parents of Savannah Chrisley never committed a violent crime. So, it seemed strange that the court pushed so hard for severe punishment. Of course, they could have just admitted they did the crime, taken a plea deal, and gotten off lightly. But, they were determined not to do that because of their belief in their innocence.
Savannah Chrisley let Perez ask her some questions as well. He talked about the costs of the appeal. He noted that it takes time and can run to “millions of dollars.” So, he asked if she is helping with that. She said, “No, because they took care of everything before they left.” Moving on, she seems angry because she “saw on the news about a man who killed three children,” He only got “12 years” inside. So, she seems puzzled by the amount of time her dad will serve.
While she talks about her mom and dad, The former “Chrisley Knows Best” star believes there is a need for more conversations about the legal system. Before this happened to her family, she had no real idea of how the justice system works in the USA.
