There’s a new report that suggests the Duchess of Sussex was none too pleased when she found out that Prince Harry wasn’t as rich as she thought he would be when she first met him. According to the Daily Mail, royal expert Tom Bower says that when Meghan first met Harry, she was disappointed when she found out that her future husband wasn’t as rich as she thought he would be. After all, he was a member of the British Royal Family so Meghan assumed that he was knee-deep in dollar bills. Actually, make that pounds. But that wasn’t the case for Harry at all.

Bower said, “Her great surprise and disappointment was that Prince Harry had very little money. She had imagined he would be worth hundreds of millions, if not billions, and she is having to make up for it now.”

Bower also said that Meghan had big plans for herself when she met Harry. He added, “[Markle] wants to ride in the big Cadillacs, the private jets on command. At the moment she needs to scrounge for those sorts of things.”

As many royal fans remember, Prince Harry told Oprah during his 2021 interview that his father King Charles had cut him off both emotionally and financially. If it weren’t for the money that Princess Diana had left him, then Harry and Meghan would have had a hard time moving from London to North America, as they did in 2020. The couple have since managed to make up for their woes with their multi-million dollar contracts with the likes of Netflix and Spotify, and of course all the sales from Harry’s controversial memoir, Spare.
