Royal Author Claims King Charles Is Jealous Of Prince William and Princess Kate Stealing The Limelight

Royal Author Claims King Charles Is Jealous Of Prince William and Princess Kate Stealing The LimelightIs it possible that the King is jealous of his heir Prince William‘s starring popularity? This royal author seems to think so.

After being the longest serving heir in the history of the monarchy – try 73 years – it must feel disappointing to know that many people would prefer that his son was on the throne right now rather than him.

The Royal Family Conforms To This Press Strategy To Avoid Stealing King Charles’ Limelight

Many a times King Charles has taken part in an important event, only for his efforts to be overshadowed by “what Kate wore.”

This has caused some royal fans to speculate that tension exists between the new Waleses and the former ones.

It was especially telling that Charles would ask William to drive his younger and unpopular brother, Prince Andrew, to church, as if in hopes it would knock off some of William’s popularity points.

Now, the Daily Express has reported that there is indeed need for Charles not to be overshadowed by William and his wife Kate at their joint appearances.

In fact this need is so prominent, royal author and Daily Beast columnist Clive Irving calls it “jealousy.” With the Daily Express saying that the “the king-in-waiting is stealing some of the incumbent’s thunder.”

“They worked out a kind of accommodation of how much limelight each is going to be allowed, because Charles is always very jealous of the other people stealing his limelight,” Irving said.

He’s worked out a deal now, whereby Wiliam and Kate can have an allotted percentage of the limelight.” While the exact percentage remains unclear, Irving estimated “maybe 40 percent [for William and Catherine] and he keeps 60 percent. That seems to be the working arrangement.”

However, since the Prince and Princess of Wales are leading the popularity trail, along with the Princess Royal, it might be wise to let them have all the press they can get.
