Robyn Brown Blames Las Vegas For The Sister Wives Plural Divorce

For years, Kody Brown presented himself as the man with four wives. This all changed within a short period of time when three of his spiritual wives left in quick succession, leaving him down to one: his acknowledged favorite Robyn.

Speaking with PEOPLE, Robyn Brown traced the reason Meri, Janelle and Christine left to a family dynamic shift that happened whilst they were in Las Vegas.

However, even though Las Vegas may have kickstarted the entire process, Robyn admitted it was not one thing that led to Kody Brown’s plural marriage dissolving.

Robyn Brown Blames Meri, Janelle And Christine Brown’s Adult Children For Tearing A Rift In Plural Marriage To Kody

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE published on Nov. 29, Robyn, 45, opened up about the reason the other wives decided to leave their plural marriage.

Robyn Brown Blames Las Vegas For The “Sister Wives'” Plural Divorce“I think it started with when we were in Las Vegas,” she said, noting that the main factor was when Meri, Janelle and Christine’s children grew up and left home. “So their focuses started to shift to kids that have left home to go live their life, instead of focusing on their relationship with Kody.”

So instead of maintaining their commitment to Kody or to their fellow Sister Wives, they were busy looking forward to when their adult children will come back during the holidays, so they can reconnect.

This might not all have come to a head if Las Vegas hadn’t shown each woman that they can successfully be independent. And then when they moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, and became “separated geographically,” it meant they were no longer in each other’s lives as regularly.

“That made us feel more independent of each other,” she continued. “It was easier just to not spend time together because it was harder to get in the car and go hang out at someone’s house and then try to figure out if you get through the snow to home and things like that. And so I think that was the next step.”

In every decision, there’s always a catalyst where you go, “you know what? I can’t take this anymore.”

Robyn believes this catalyst came about when there was debate as to whether they should build one home and live in it, instead of separate homes for each wives. The debate then gave rise to a lot of “truths” being unearthed.

She explained, “I think a lot of the issues that were a part of their past started to come up. It was before I came in the family, there was these issues about living together that started to come up, and they started talking about that.”

When the pandemic hit, it became clear that the family can no longer function as a unit, prompting Christine’s exit the following year. Janelle announced her split from Kody a year later, with Meri following suit in a matter of days.
