Prince Harry Ignores To Mention Meghan Markle In Emotional Tribute To Veterans

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were a force to be reckoned with at this year’s Invictus Games.

The couple were regularly seen walking hand in hand and chatting excitedly throughout the games, even though Meghan’s arrival was quite a surprise as she was removed from the speaking lineup during the last minute.

During Harry’s poignant closing speech, he paid tribute to the 500 athletes that took part in the games, but neglected to mention his wife Meghan, who arrived at the Games just after it kicked off.

Prince Harry Calls Invictus Games “More Than A Sporting Event”

This year’s Invictus Games was the best by numbers so far as 500 servicemen and women from 21 countries traveled to Dusseldorf, Germany, to compete in the games.

“As you have seen and experienced, this week is so much more than a sporting event,” Harry said during the Games’ closing ceremony. “It is a platform for positive change. We hope you too are feeling it deeply. I am sure, you’re all physically exhausted, but I also hope you are mentally stronger than when you arrived.”

Harry continued: “We may have provided the platform but you provided the magic. We’ve all witnessed the true impact sport has had on your recovery and on your post-traumatic growth, but you will never truly know the impact that your actions this week have had on millions of people around the world.”

At one point, he appeared to choke on his emotions, adding, “You have opened people’s hearts through your vulnerability, through your resilience and through your sheer abilities.

My hope is that every memory made brings a smile to your face through a sense of belonging and an opportunity for you and your family to look forward with pride and purpose.”

Following the speech, Rita Ora and Sam Ryder took the stage and delivered stunning vocal performances that moved the audience.
