Paramount+ Series Lawmen: Bass Reeves First Teaser And Images

Paramount+ has released teasers for Taylor Sheridan’s new series, Lawmen: Bass Reeves.

The movie stars David Oyelowo in the title role, along with Dennis Quaid, Demi Singleton, Garrett Hedlund, Barry Pepper, Lauren E. Banks and more.

David Oyelowo in Lawmen: Bass Reeves

First in the Lawmen series on Paramount+ tells the real-life story of Bass Reeves, the first black US deputy marshal out west of the Mississippi.

In the first teaser trailer, readers can watch Reeves as a formidable lawman and look into his early life as a former slave and Civil War veteran.

It is believed that Bass Reeves first inspired the character, the Lone Ranger.

As the teaser opens, Bass Reeves (Oyelowo) can be seen on a horse, declaring himself the “law of this land.”

We then see him kicking down doors and strutting with confidence, while he fires rounds at those who dare to break the law in his jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, Deputy Marshall Reeves tells one of his targets that their “wicked days are done” as the teaser closes.

Based on a true character, the series will tell the story of how Reeves was born into slavery.

However, despite this, he is forced to fight for the Confederacy alongside his “owner.”

Meanwhile, he eventually escapes, starting a fresh life on his own terms. Moreover, judging by the teaser, viewers will find out about the era in history before Bass Reeves turned lawman.

David Oyelowo as Bass Reeves, other cast members include Donald Sutherland, Dennis Quaid, Forrest Goodluck, Garrett Hedlund, Barry Pepper, Demi Singleton, Grantham Coleman and Lauren E. Banks. Of interest to note, Oyelowo also serves as an executive producer along with Sheridan.

In the first-look images posted in this article, Lauren E. Banks is Bass’ wife, Jennie Reeves, and the mother of their child.

When does Lawmen: Bass Reeves premiere?

While so far, there is no news as to the premiere date of Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Paramount+ does state that the series will stream in the fall.
