Netflix CEO Discusses Prince Harry’s Involvement In “The Crown”

Ahead of the release of “The Crown’s” highly anticipated sixth season, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos opened up about Harry’s involvement in the controversial series.

Even though Harry has a contract with Netflix since 2020, he does not influence the show or contribute to it in any way, and according to Sarandos, it’s a topic they shy away from discussing.

“The Crown” Creator Says He Doesn’t Want Prince Harry’s Memoir To Influence the Show’s Voice

In a new interview with Variety, Ted Sarandos denied Prince Harry’s involvement in the upcomingThe Crown season.

He told Variety: “We keep a wall around this topic when we talk, for obvious reasons.”

In addition, the creator of “The Crown,” Peter Morgan, said that he refuses to read the memoir for the sole reason that it might influence certain things on the drama series centered on the life of the Royal Family.

Morgan said: “I’ve not read a word of it. Not that I wouldn’t be interested. But I didn’t want his voice to inhabit my thinking too much. I’ve got a lot of sympathy with him, a lot of sympathy. But I didn’t want to read his book.”

The Series Focuses On The Monarch And Heirs To The British Throne

As for Harry’s representation in the upcoming season, Morgan said he only features as a means for them to explore William’s character as a brother and heir.

The show’s creator further noted that the series focuses on the monarch and heirs to the British throne, including Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles, and Prince William.

The upcoming season six is said to be divided into two sections. The first, which will air on November 16, will explore Princess Diana’s final days and the aftermath of her death.

The second, which will premiere on December 14, will shed a light on Charles’ relationship with Camilla, and the lead-up to their 2005 wedding.

Harry previously confessed to watching the show and finding it interesting.

Asked whether William might have grown curious enough to watch the show, pr expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: “He could but I’m sure he won’t. I’m sure he will never admit to watching it. It’s a hazardous business because the moment a royal makes a statement then millions of people will tune in to see what the fuss is about.”
