Netflix Cancels Shadow and Bone, Glamorous & More Series

Sad to say, Netflix has canceled the fantasy series Shadow and Bone after two seasons on the streaming channel. But that’s not all, as Glamorous is also cut after one season, as well as three freshman animated series, Farzar, Captain Fall and Agent Elvis. What led to these series cancelations?

Shadow and Bone canceled on Netflix

The Netflix series Shadow and Bone told the story of an orphan named Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li). After discovering she possesses the rare Grisha power to summon sunlight, she embarks on a journey to bring down the Shadow Fold. This is a dangerous strip of land which is engulfed in darkness, where the villainous Kirigan (Ben Barnes) AKA the Darkling, conspired against her.

In season 2, Alina and Mal (Archie Renaux) are on the run, while the seemingly defeated Darkling emerges from the Fold accompanied by a new army of indestructible shadow monsters, dubbed nichevo’ya, along with fearsome new Grisha recruits.

Leigh Bardugo, the author of Shadow and Bone was “heartbroken and deeply disappointed” by the cancelation after season 2, and also the Six of Crows spinoff. In an Instagram post, she wrote that she was also trying to hold on to her “very real gratitude.” Bardugo added:

Most authors never get to see their work adapted. Many who do end up regretting the experience. I’m one of the very few who can look at an adaptation with pride and tremendous joy.

Glamorous canceled on the streaming network

Meanwhile, the Netflix series Glamorous, stars a real-life beauty influencer, Miss Benny as a mall makeup salesperson called Marco Mejia. Her life is turned upside down after a chance encounter with model-turned-mogul, Madolyn Addison (Sex and the City alum Kim Cattrall) lands the job of their dreams.

The only season of Glamorous ended with Marco meeting a specialist to more deeply explore their identity.

Agent Elvis on Netflix

Matthew McConaughey stars as the animated character Agent Elvis and the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, while moonlighting as a secret agent. Among the voice cast are Kaitlin Olson, Niecy Nash, Johnny Knoxville and Elvis’ ex-wife Priscilla Presley. Meanwhile, Presley also served as a co-creator of the series.

Farzar canceled by the streaming network

The animated series, Farzar, comes from producers behind Paradise PD and Brickleberry. The series is set on a distant planet, where the late Lance Reddick stars as the evil czar Renzo.

Captain Fall dropped by Netflix

Meanwhile, the animated series, Captain Fall stars Jason Ritter as an unwitting captain of an illegal smuggling ship. Moreover, the coast includes Anthony Carrigan, Christopher Meloni and Lesley-Ann Brandt.
