A Royal insider says it was significant that Prince Andrew was the first family member to join the King at the Highlands castle, showing their relationship has improved. The King wanted the whole family to join him, inviting Andrew and his ex—wife Sarah, The Duchess of York, for a holiday. Sarah is recovering from breast cancer surgery.
Charles’ peace offering to Andrew came after the king allowed him to remain in the seven-bedroom Royal Lodge in Windsor.
The King wanted Andrew to relocate to the smaller Frogmore Cottage but changed his mind at the last minute. Andrew drove to the Highlands caste, meeting Sarah at the airport.
The Family Reunion
They are staying at a seven-bedroom Craigowan Lodge on the estate. It was a favorite of the late Queen Elizabeth. Andrew’s daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and their families were expected to join.
The family get-together commences nearly a year after the Queen’s death. Andrew doesn’t consider it a snub not to stay at the main house. Instead, he’s thrilled to be part of the family reunion.
“It is delightful, and the Duke and Duchess can relax totally. It’s only a mile to the big house where family dinners and get-togethers will take place,” the Royal insider said. “The King and Andrew are now on much better terms, and making him the first member of the family to join him is an olive branch.”
Even though Andrew’s relationship with Charles is much better, experts say the Duke cannot return to his royal duties. Instead, Charles wanted to repair their brotherly relationship because it was the right thing to do.
Queen Elizabeth Would Want Her Sons To Be On Good Terms
Efforts to allegedly force Andrew to leave Royal Lodge were out of concern that the Duke couldn’t afford it. It is a long lease from the independent Crown Estate.
The King now says that he will not force Andrew out, as he doesn’t have the authority to do so, and vows his loyalty to his brother, insisting he isn’t going anywhere.
“The King realizes Andrew can’t return to royal duties in the near future, but he is still his brother, and he knows the late Queen would want them to patch up their differences and work together, especially as Harry and Meghan have proved so divisive,” a Royal expert revealed.
“Andrew is more of a long-term problem than Harry and Meghan. It feels like more stuff will come out on Epstein, and there are still unexploded bombs there.”
