Before the event, a video taken at the Royal Festival Hall showed Kate giving a light tap on the butt. The royal couple looked sleek in their formal attire. The brief yet sweet moment was captured by Vogue.
The magazine shared the clip on Instagram with the caption, “Princess Kate gave Prince William a love tap as they arrived at the 2023 #BAFTAs, proving that royals really are just like us— a regular husband and wife that sometimes like to cop a feel.”

Prince William has been the BAFTA’s President since 2010. He pulled out of an appearance at the event after the death of his grandfather, Prince Philip, back in 2021. This year’s ceremony was special for the couple since it marked their first time on the red carpet as the Prince and Princess of Wales.
They received the royal titles following King Charles III’s ascension to the throne after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, in September 2022.
Fans watched Mirren receive a BAFTA award for her portrayal of the late monarch in 2006’s The Queen. “Cinema at its best does what Her Majesty did effortlessly – bring us together and unite us through a story. Your Majesty, you were our nation’s leading star,” Mirren said. “Bafta would not be what it is today without her loyal support,” she added.
Prince William appeared tearful as the actress delivered her speech, and his reaction, as well as that of Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, was captured in a video and shared on TikTok.
Some felt bad for Prince William, while others felt like crying, too, when they saw the clip. There were also a few who noticed that Kate looked emotional, as well. The royal were both close to tears as Mirren delivered her tribute. It’s evident that they’re still struggling with the loss of the late monarch.
