Johnny Depp Stars In New Dior Ad A Year After Amber Heard Trial

Johnny Depp has taken another step in his comeback after his trial against his ex wife Amber Heard. And this one involves a commercial.

Johnny Depp – Is Face Of Dior Sauvage

Dior has welcomed back Johnny Depp to promote the company’s Sauvage fragrance. And the 60-year-old actor’s new commercial signifies his first ad for Dior since his highly publicized trial against his ex wife Amber Heard in 2022. The ad features Johnny reciting poetry, noted People.

Dressed all in black, the actor says, “An eagle cries as it circles its prey. The blazing sun high in the ozone blue sky. A trail of cold wind stirs a land of dry wood and stone.” And Depp finishes with a flourish, saying, “This is the call of Sauvage Eau.”

Johnny received about $20 million for his three-year contract with Dior. And the deal represents the biggest partnership for a fragrance targeting men in history.

Dior Salutes Johnny Depp On Social Media

Social media posts from Dior featured Depp’s new commercial. For instance, one read, “Bold and powerful, in his essence, his truth, @JohnnyDepp embodies the soul of Sauvage.” And another noted, “The Call of the Blazing Sun of Sauvage Eau de Toilette. Discover its olfactory legend narrated by Johnny Depp. #DiorBeauty #DiorParfums #DiorSauvage #MySauvageCall.”

And Depp’s fans gushed over the commercial. For example, one wrote, “Amazingly rich commercial full of class just like Dior and Johnny!! They just do it right and the scent intoxicating.” And another commented, “A video of a raven, calling it an eagle, with the cry of a red tailed hawk. Love it.”

But several fans noted the significance of Dior welcoming back Depp after the trial. For instance, one shared, “Breathtakingly beautiful. Johnny is just perfect for this scent, wouldn’t have it any other way Thank you for standing by him, it’s greatly appreciated.” And another wrote, “Thank you @christiandior for standing with Johnny.” 

Johnny Depp Returns – To Movies And Music

Depp’s powerful return to serve as a spokesperson for Dior comes more than a year after his defamation trial against Amber. The jury ruled that both Heard and Depp were liable for defamation. But the verdict favored the actor.

And Johnny received an award of $10.35 million in damages. In contrast, Amber was awarded $2 million. And since the trial ended, Depp has returned both to his music and to movies.

During the summer, the actor went on tour with his band, The Hollywood Vampires. And in addition to touring with his fellow musicians Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Tommy Henriksen, Depp headed back to film. He starred as King Louis XV in the French-language movie Jeanne Du Barry.

And Depp also will soon direct the film Modi, based on the play Modigliani by Dennis McIntyre. But an insider shared that the 60-year-old seeks to take care of himself. And while he goes on tour and plans to direct a film, Depp recognizes his limitations. “He can’t do what he was doing at 20 years old,” said the source. “He’s taking care of himself. Everything in moderation.”
