Is General Hospital Recasting Drew Cain

General Hospital spoilers and comings and goings hint Cameron Mathison may be on his way out.  A new report indicates the Drew Cain portrayer just landed a big movie deal, and rumor has it he is done at GH.  Is the ABC soap recasting the role?

Deadline confirmed Cameron Mathison has signed a lengthy contract with Great American Media and will be filming several movies for them over the course of a few years.  Cameron’s fans know he had a similar contract with Hallmark and starred in dozens of movies for that network before he joined the cast of General Hospital.

The character of Drew Cain has been a messy one on General Hospital.  The character basically was created to keep Billy Miller on the soap opera after Steve Burton returned as General Hospital.

After the Jason Morgan and Drew Cain swap, the writers had no choice but to keep Drew around, even after Billy Miller left.  That’s how Cameron Mathison inherited the role.

As a soap opera legend, Cameron Mathison most likely expected way more screen time and hot stories than he has received since joining the GH cast.  In fact, Drew Cain has spent a large chunk of his time off-screen in jail.

No one would be surprised if Cameron Mathison wasn’t happy at the ABC soap and opted to leave all together and pursue other projects.

GH Spoilers – What Will Happen To Drew Cain?

Since the news broke of Cameron’s new movie contract, the actor hasn’t commented on his status at General Hospital.

Rumor has it GH is currently on the hunt for a recast for the role, but at this point shouldn’t they just let Drew Cain go peacefully?
