90 Day Fiance: The Other Way Season 5 fans wondered why another American would choose to move to South Africa. After all, other TLC stars complained about the terrible crime rate and about living behind bars and security wire. Anyway, Holly is dead set on living with Wayne in the country. Furthermore, she took her mom along, as well. But is there going to be drama because he’s a big ol’ prude?

90 Day Fiance: The Other Way Holly & Wyane

From what fans have seen of the show, and spoilers from social media photos, Wayne, a plumber, probably lives in a middle-class, or semi-low-density housing suburb. As the writer of this article lived for many years in the country, it’s safe to say that he seems like a decent sort of man on initial appearance. His accent speaks of a lifetime in South Africa, so it makes sense that he forewarned Holly about the potential danger of crime. 

90 Day Fiance fans saw that Tiffany Franco went to the country to hook up with Donald Smith. Recall, the concern about someone trying to break in or hijack her seemed genuine. And it should have been. Mind you, since the pandemic caused the loss of so many jobs and an economic downturn, crime rates have risen exponentially. South Africa is not all about lions and elephants in Kruger National Park. Even so, a German visitor was shot and killed near the park late last year.

90 Day Fiance: Holly Arrives In South Africa

Teasers revealed that Holly seemed afraid of the crime, and TLC fans saw her fear because the alarm went off three times in the night. As her mom was with her, it seems that she was even more fearful. But when Wayne met her at the airport, his concern wasn’t about crime. Instead, he seemed to be upset because of her low-cut braless top and the short length of her little dress.

The 90 Day Fiance star clearly didn’t like the way the blue dress crept up Holly’s thighs either. So, he came over as perhaps a bit jealous when he said he doesn’t like people looking at her the way they were. Well, probably about three or four million other white South Africans might feel the same way. If you don’t know, the country’s white population is generally quite conservative when it comes to dress and appearance. Possibly, Wayne might have worried that strangers might assume that Holly could be “a lady of the night.”

A Prude Or Just Cultural Differences?

We’re guessing on this, but it’s likely that if Wayne didn’t attend a Dutch Reformed Church at some stage of his life, he was at least raised conservatively at school. His friends would probably be embarrassed for him if they saw Holly’s boobs and upper thighs. There’s a word for it in the Afrikaans language: “liederlik,” which suggests underdressed women are viewed as being “slutty.”

In conclusion, in our opinion, Wayne isn’t a prude in his own country, but there are massive cultural differences between him and Holly.
