Duggar Family news reveals that, according to Cheat Sheet, despite being convicted of a crime that often gets people hurt behind bars, an inmate has revealed that the former 19 Kids and Counting star is currently safe from harm. For those who are unaware, Josh was charged with downloading and possessing child sexual abuse material.
Many of those in the know have already suggested that he would face danger in prison due to the especially heinous nature of his crimes. But an insider recently suggested that he’s in no danger at FCI Seagoville
Many prisoners often do face violence while serving their sentences, and Duggar Family fans have certainly wondered if Josh would have to fight for his life while serving his substantial sentence. He is currently housed in Seagoville, Texas at FCI Seagoville.
A fellow inmate has come forward and revealed that the former TLC personality is not going to face any danger while he’s incarcerated despite what many media outlets claim. Anthony Accurso told the Marshall Project that “there were the sensationalist, gossip rag articles” focused on how Josh may be “scared of getting attacked.”
However, he said, “sex offender prisons are just not like that, and the BOP makes sure high-profile people are safe because it’ll be a black eye on the Bureau if they get hurt. So, they send them to the safest prisons they can, and those are the sex offender prisons.”
Accurso continues, explaining that FCI Seagoville didn’t have a lot of prison gangs. “In regular facilities, sex offenders usually aren’t involved in prison gangs because most won’t allow them in.”
“Here, it’s a little different because people in gangs are in the minority, so they will accept some sex offenders to keep up their numbers. It’s on a case-by-case basis; it depends on how heinous the crime was.”
Accurso claims that FCI Seagoville doesn’t have a lot of violence. And of course, due to BOP politics, this might be especially true for high-profile inmates. However, the Sun reports that some inmates at FCI Seagoville have filed complaints and lawsuits in the past for assaults.
An inmate alleged in an October 2022 filing, “I was assaulted with a lock by an inmate who was paid by other inmates to do the assaulting,” adding, “I informed [staff] I am in fear for my life and can’t stay here. On Sept. 16, I was released back to the general public to only have my life threatened again.”
So clearly, violence does occur there. Time will tell if the bureaucracy associated with high-profile inmates in federal prisons will shield Josh Duggar from violence. Many may also wonder why Duggar should be any more or less protected than any other inmate.
According to Newsweek, Duggar was sent to the “most-laid back” of prisons where “sex offenders are safe.” Be sure and stay up to speed on all Duggar-related news. Return here often for more Duggar Family news and updates.
