Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in a new Netflix series, Fubar, streaming on May 25. Moreover, he will be starring in a documentary about himself on Netflix titled Arnold. However, he and Sylvester Stallone competed for roles in the 1980s, and the Terminator star is still jealous of Stallone. This is particularly so relating to Stallone’s recent role in Taylor Sheridan’s recent hit series, Tulsa King. Read on to find out more about Schwarzenegger’s aspirations to work with Sheridan as well as his new roles on Netflix
Let’s face it, Taylor Sheridan has cast a number of major Hollywood actors in Yellowstone, its spinoffs, Tulsa King and the new show, Lioness. Now, it turns out Arnold Schwarzenegger is jealous of Sylvester Stallone for his latest role in Tulsa King. The two greats competed for movie roles in the 1980s, and now it seems to be happening again.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the Terminator star said he would “absolutely” like to collaborate with Taylor Sheridan. Speaking of the Yellowstone boss, the actor said he thinks Sheridan is “very talented.” He went on to mention the competition between himself and Stallone, saying:
And the cast on [Yellowstone] is phenomenal. Today, I see much more of other people’s performances than I did in the ’80s, when I was only seeing myself. I was thinking: ‘I have to win.’ It was a competition against Sly, against others to be number one.
Schwarzenegger might dream of teaming up with Sheridan, but he already has a new role in the Netflix series, Fubar, which premieres on May 25. In the show, he stars as Luke Brunner, a divorced CIA agent. Brunner’s marriage has failed, partly due to his infidelity.
Arnold’s real-life marriage with his ex-wife Maria Shriver famously ended after he cheated with their former housekeeper, Mildred Baena. He went on to say they were laughing about the comparison, saying it “feels like it’s a documentary.”
However, Schwarzenegger said that the difference is that his character doesn’t consider it cheating in the show because [seducing CIA assets] was part of his job. He said that in Fubar, his wife had moved on as he was never at home. However, in his own situation, it was his “f**k-up” and his “failure.”
Arnold went on to say that his split from Maria was “very, very difficult in the beginning.” However, he said you eventually move on, adding:
I have a wonderful girlfriend, [physical therapist] Heather Milligan, who is very successful. I’m really proud of her, and I love her.
However, he also added that, at the same time, he still loves his wife, saying, “She and I are really good friends and very close.” Moreover, Schwarzenegger said they are both proud of the way they raised their children, adding:
Even though we had this drama, we did Easter together, Mother’s Day together, the Christmases together, all birthdays — everything together.
Besides starring opposite Monica Barbaro as father-daughter CIA agents in Fubar, Schwarzenegger, 75, also has a three-part documentary coming soon. Arnold premieres on Netflix on June 7. The documentary delves deeply into Arnold Schwarzenegger’s journey from rural Austria to the highest echelons of the American dream.
Now, his fans will have to wait to see if Taylor Sheridan takes the hint and casts the Terminator star in one of his upcoming new series.
