General Hospital Spoilers suggest Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is up a certain creek without a paddle, and Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) will be right by his side where she is expected to be.
This is going to put a crimp in Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) plans to dig into Judge Kim’s (Kurt Yue) past on a mission to unearth any shred of evidence that points toward bias in his rulings.
If Diane can prove he’s been particularly tough on white-collar crime or other defendants like Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), she may be able to argue the sentence was prejudiced and get it commuted entirely with another judge’s ruling.
It’s a stretch, but Carly has hope — and just like that, Sonny’s case will take precedence and blow it all to smithereens, at least for the time being. When a flustered Diane backs away from Drew’s case, it’ll be Sonny who feels Carly’s wrath the most.
Diane’s hands are good to be tied — and busy — defending Sonny against a slew of federal charges. She won’t have time for other cases, even when it pertains to helping her dear friend, Carly.
Drew is likely to be far more understanding about this change in plans than Carly will. To be fair, he did warn her not to get her hopes up. But no one could have seen this roadblock coming.
We should be pretty accustomed to this by now. When Carly feels wronged or like she isn’t getting the full picture, she is unrelenting until she produces change.
In other words, she wears people down into compliance. Diane may not appreciate that kind of harassment, and we’d love to say Carly won’t press her or cross any lines with their friendship, but she is feeling rather desperate to get Drew back home with her.
The truth is, Sonny is going to completely zap Diane’s extra time. He will need all hands on deck and then some to get out of the current mess he’s embroiled in with the feds.
Carly is sure to understand that, but not without some reluctance and disappointment. She was really looking forward to seeing what could be done about Drew’s sentence; she wants him back home with her soon — not in three years’ time.
Well, it just so happens that such an outcome may not serve her ex-husband all that well. Sonny might not have set out to interfere with Drew’s life, but if he can monopolize Diane’s time to ensure Drew sticks around Pentonville a while longer, it’ll only benefit him twofold.
For starters, he could use Drew in his corner on the inside. But he also isn’t necessarily eager for Drew to be set free and ride off into the sunset with Carly — and we all know why.
