Her position at The Invader has afforded her the opportunity to see Port Charles through another angle, and she’s been happy to keep busy, but she longs to spar with fellow attorneys in the courtroom again and help people clean up the very kinds of messes she herself has made of her own life at times. Alexis lied under oath to protect Neil Byrne (Joe Flanigan) and ended up disbarred for it. Now, she’s tossing around the idea of pursuing licensure again.
General Hospital spoilers show Alexis has more than a few run-ins with the law. Luckily, people routinely escape persecution for their crimes when they live in Port Charles. Having entertained love affairs with several known criminals, and even giving birth to the child of a local mob lord, Alexis has a penchant for hooking up with the wrong men.
That seems to be where things ended for her with Neil as well. Needless to say, she hasn’t had much interest in dating since then, unless you count her one-night stand with her ex-husband, Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth). It seems as though Alexis is at her best when she’s single. So it stands to reason that if she gets her license to practice back, she just might find love too, which could blow her life to bits once again.
Let’s be honest, Alexis hasn’t really changed her ways. For whatever reason, this lawyer has little respect for the law. She may not have been drinking and driving when Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) framed her for such, but let’s not pretend she never had, or that her history with alcoholism hasn’t wreaked havoc on her career and loved ones.
The one thing Alexis never seems to repair is her compulsion to meddle and focus on everyone else’s life but her own. Is she happy being alone? It’s not likely, but she’s burying herself in work, as usual, to ignore it. Perhaps that’s where Molly Lansing Davis (Mia Holiday Kriegel) gets it from. Regardless, Alexis isn’t likely to see her career take flight again if she doesn’t fix the issues that keep landing her in hot water with the bar.
Normally, there is a process to follow by which a disbarred attorney can seek relicensure. In some cases, it’s not possible. For Alexis, she may have to wait a few years before she can beg for forgiveness. If that time has come, we could see her reinstated as an attorney just in time to spar with a fellow attorney this year. Jackson Montgomery (Walt Willey) is making his way from All My Children’s Pine Valley over to Port Charles, and rumor has it this pair could end up circling one another outside of the courtroom, too. Do you think Jackson could be Alexis’ next love interest? Share your thoughts with us, and stay tuned for more General Hospital news and spoilers just ahead.
