GH Spoilers: The Warden Is The Boss Lady, But What Beef Does She Have With Sonny?

General Hospital spoilers report we may finally know who the Gatlins’ “boss lady” is. Warden Ellen Garten (Diahnna Nicole Baxter) seems to have her clutches deep into Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) and his cousin, Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey), but her reach doesn’t stop there. Having Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) in her back pocket has certainly given her an edge in the world of corrupt politics.

Fans are scratching their heads over why her identity was kept a mystery for so long, and what problem she might have with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Is she only after him to make a name for herself — or is there more to it?

General Hospital Spoilers — Tension Brews With Cyrus Renault

It’s clear that Warden Garten’s professional relationship with Cyrus isn’t new. Their conversation this past week implied they’ve both scratched an itch or two for one another recently.

Case in point, it sounds as though Cyrus helped the Warden secure her position at Pentonville in the first place — which is a significant promotion for her. But she was by no means behaving as though she is indebted to Cyrus.

Their back-and-forth banter left a lot of questions on the table about who is really in control between the two of them and whether their alliance can withstand one of them gaining more power over the other.

It’s possible that Warden Garten is out for herself and just trying to climb the career ladder as quickly as she can.

Call her hungry for power, or money, or control — which she seemed to enforce without hesitation when speaking to Cyrus.

Confident in her abilities to make life more uncomfortable for him, she expected Cyrus to fall in line and stop challenging her. He didn’t.

She may very well know that she’s not going to get to the next echelon in her career without his continued “support,” too. So, how much can she really bite back?

It would seem as though Cyrus and Warden Garten got involved with one another in the first place because they had a shared target.

While Sonny may not be a personal enemy of the warden the way he is of Cyrus, that doesn’t mean she’s not out to take him down so she can make a name for herself and earn her way to the top as fast as possible.
