GH Spoilers: Sonny Learns It Was Cyrus Whom Sought Treatment With Austin In Pentonville

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest Dr. Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) is about to find himself in the hot seat with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) when new information comes to light that puts Austin at Pentonville at the time Betty Rutherford (Ella Lentini) disappeared into the abyss.

We aren’t quite sure yet how he’s going to find out the truth, and maybe he’ll merely overhear it or learn it from Laura Collins (Genie Francis) now that she’s back in town.

Certainly, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) is on her radar now that he’s also “back in town.” If Cyrus even happens to acknowledge Austin in public as the good doctor who tended to his care, it could send off alarm bells to Sonny and lead him to connect the dots that Cyrus was behind the scam on Ava Jerome (Maura West) all along — and Austin has been complicit the whole time, too.

He may be allegedly broke and peddling Bible verses these days, but nothing will come as more validating to Laura than learning Cyrus is still up to his old tricks against Sonny — his nemesis. Nothing has changed, and she’s been seeking that confirmation for a long time.

Sonny, of course, never doubted Cyrus’ charade, but he’s going to take a keen interest in the Gatlins and how they came to be wrapped up in a mobster’s games.

Will ties to their childhood also end up linking Laura to Austin — a man who really rubbed her the wrong way the last she spoke with him before heading off to Chechnya?

Austin hasn’t struck us as a particularly courageous guy. He seems to want to live his life and be left alone in peace. At the same time, he’s got a sinister side. Let’s not forget that time he blackmailed Damien Spinelli (Bradford Anderson).

Something isn’t quite right with Austin, and the truth about his years of entanglements with Cyrus could shed some light on why that is.

Let’s be honest. Roger Howarth has reinvented himself with three characters on GH. While we wouldn’t put it past the writers to introduce a fourth, we’re thinking Austin’s story isn’t done yet.

Fans are still asking about his special needs brother, why he went so far to botch his relationship with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), and whether his interest in Ava is genuine or not.

So, if Roger isn’t on his way out, then it stands to reason Ava is going to plead with Sonny to give Austin a pass. But what does that mean for Austin’s future potential in Ava’s life?
