GH Spoilers: Sonny Aims To Protect Nina By Keeping His Distance

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest some issues up ahead for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). The mob boss’s world has been flipped upside down since that sniper *almost* tried to take his life at the warehouse recently. Corinthos is clearly a target, but does this also mean those closest to him are in danger, too?

General Hospital Spoilers – Sonny Corinthos Decides It’s Best Nina Reeves Stays Away

GH spoilers for the week of March 20th note that Sonny will decide to keep his distance from those he loves the most, including Nina. Soap Opera Digest (SOD) recently spoke with the character’s portrayer, actress Cynthia Watros on Reeves’s perspective about a possible Sina split.

As Watros reveals, Nina has always known about Sonny’s job and the risks involved. Although, she has chosen to (somewhat) ignore his mob business throughout their romance in Port Charles, simply because of her feelings for him. Cynthia states Reeves has noticed a shift in Sonny’s attitude since things have exploded in his mob world. She also knows how much Corinthos’s family and loved ones mean to him, and how important it is he protects them. So, when he brings up taking a break from spending so much time together, she’s not shocked, but she doesn’t like the idea.

Watros states that at the end of the day, while it’s hard for Nina to wrap her mind around the danger of his business, hearing that they need some separation to keep her safe will hurt her heart.

GH Spoilers – Nina Reeves Has Many Others She Needs To Worry About

Watros goes on during her SOD interview to explain that Nina isn’t only thinking of herself these days. She’s got others in her life close to her that she needs to worry about and protect. There’s Maxie Jones (Kristen Storms), and of course, little James West (Curtis and Owen Rufca). Plus, there is Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen). Even though she and her bio daughter don’t spend much time together, Reeves is hoping that will someday change. As such, Nina will agree to spend less time with Corithos. They’ll agree to talk on the phone and catch some time here and there, but no sleepovers at each other’s places and certainly no public appearances.

Watros reveals that even though they aren’t breaking up, spending less time together will be hard on Nina, especially in light of Willow’s bone marrow transplant coming up. Cynthia notes that Reeves is “terrified” something could happen before Willow gets that bone marrow. With everything Tait has been through, who could blame Nina for being worried and anxious? That surgery can’t come soon enough!
