GH Spoilers: Rena Sofer Talks Lois Cerullo Return & “Why” She’s Back

General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint that Lois Cerullo’s explosive return to Port Charles this week has had fans everywhere buzzing. Actress Rena Sofer recently spoke to Soap Opera Digest (SOD) talks about Lois’s comeback, and why she chose to return to the show after being away for almost 30 years.

General Hospital Spoilers – Rena Sofer’s Return Has Been “In The Works” For A While

Sofer details how Lois’ return unraveled, detailing events that have been in the works since 2021. At that point in time, Ms. Sofer was working on The Bold and The Beautiful (B&B) playing Quinn Fuller.

She ran into GH’s Executive Producer Frank Valentini at the wedding of Chad Duell (GH, Michael Corinthos) and Courtney Hope (Young and the Restless’s Sally Spectra) in October of that year, and they sat together.

Sofer notes it was “great to see him”, and he mentioned how he’d “love” to have her back on GH. As she was on B&B at that point, she wasn’t up to talking about a Lois return.

GH Spoilers – How Long Is Lois Cerullo’s Stint?

Of course, Sofer would end up leaving B&B in 2022, so when Frank reached out more recently out of ‘nowhere’ and texted her asking if she was willing to return to the land of Port Charles for a short time, she said yes.

Sofer explains that it seemed like the perfect time for Lois to return for a short run to help Eddie Maine (Wally Kurth) remember he’s Ned Quartermaine.

Sofer notes that while she’s played a lot of roles over the years, Lois is one of her top three favorite characters to play during her career.

Rena also notes that it’s “interesting” to play Cerullo at this age as she’s still “mouthy” and “loud”; a lot like Rena herself, just with a Brooklyn accent and nails.

Still, Sofer is fully aware that this story isn’t about her, rather it’s about Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Eddie/Ned, and she is aware of that and respects the process.

This arc is really about who Cerullo is now, 27 years later, and supporting the stories that are presently unfolding.
