GH Spoilers: Portia Uses Esme To Break Up Spencer And Trina

General Hospital spoilers reveal Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) can feel her frustration building as she watches Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) grow closer. She knows that Spencer isn’t good enough for her daughter, but no matter how many times she voices her concerns, they seem to fall on deaf ears. That’s why Portia is going to take matters into her own hands and utilize a secret weapon: Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl).

She knows that Esme is dying to get away from Port Charles and the Cassadine family. Equally as much, she is certain Spencer will follow Esme to the ends of the Earth if need be to stay close to his baby brother, Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay). If she can convince Esme to skip town, she won’t have to worry about Spencer hanging around Trina anymore. Portia’s plan to break them up may seem ruthless, but to her, it’s the only way to protect Trina.

When Portia walked into that inpatient room, she never expected to be face to face with a feverish Esme, who needs more than just healthcare to overcome all that she’s up against. Portia has let her opinions of Spencer blind her to the fact that Esme is a dangerous young woman, and a one-time fugitive from justice who tried to frame her daughter for a heinous crime she didn’t commit. My, my, how the tables have turned. Is Portia really willing to overlook all that Esme has done in the name of seeing to it that Spencer leaves town? It would seem so.

Portia’s concerns about Spencer are understandable; he’s a Cassadine. What mother wouldn’t be concerned? However, it’s important to not let fear cloud judgment, especially when Spencer has shown his love and care for Trina’s well-being.

Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) has tried to school Portia on just how devoted Spencer seems to be to their little girl. He saw it first-hand in Greenland; Spencer consistently put Trina’s safety above his own. If Portia takes such drastic steps as to pull Esme into her scheme to pull Spencer and Trina apart, she can consider her relationship with her daughter as good as dead.

Trina might not notice what her mother is up to, but Spencer is more or less expecting her to retaliate against him in some way. Will he still have a toddler-level temper tantrum when she does? You betcha! But don’t assume that means he didn’t see it coming. Cassadine men know what they’re up against in this community, and that their name precedes them.

Spencer was fine with having to earn Portia and Marcus Taggert’s (Réal Andrews) respect, but he didn’t know Trina’s mom was never even going to give him the chance to. As Portia hedges her bets and manipulates Esme into becoming a third wheel in Spencer and Trina’s relationship, her ultimate plan will be to see to it that Esme makes her way out of Port Charles.
