Jordan wasn’t going to go out of her way to tell Stella anything, but she wasn’t going to lie for Portia either. Had Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) found out on his own and questioned Jordan, she would have told him the truth, too, but she felt he deserved to hear it from his bride-to-be, Portia. When Portia comes back round post-nuptials, Jordan will worry her intention is to start World War III, but instead, Portia is seeking peace, and she knows it starts with clearing Jordan’s name.
When Curtis discovered that his ex-wife knew about Portia’s secret and kept it from him, he was shocked. He thought Jordan would have learned this lesson the hard way when their own marriage hit the bricks because she couldn’t keep the lines of communication open and honest with Curtis.
Instead, it seemed to Curtis that Jordan still thinks it’s okay to keep him in the dark — even about something as important as Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) possibly being his daughter. Curtis couldn’t believe Jordan would let him get married knowing Portia was keeping that secret from him, but Jordan has a pretty solid defense for why she didn’t. Nonetheless, it’s going to take Curtis some time to overlook this — or so he thinks.
When Portia offers additional information that paints Jordan in a different light, both Jordan and Curtis will be pretty surprised. Jordan never expected Portia, of all people, to come to her defense, but she will. Portia knows how wrong she was now, despite her frequent attempts to explain to Trina, Curtis, and Marcus Taggert (Réal Andrews) why she did what she did.
Still, she knows it wouldn’t be right to let Curtis hold a grudge against Jordan over this when Jordan clearly tried many times to get Portia to come clean. When she tells Curtis the truth and makes him see just how much Jordan was on his side, he’s going to be left feeling like his ex-wife was in his corner far more than his current wife ever was.
It might make Curtis look at Jordan in a different light when he learns that she has been going to bat for him behind his back. She didn’t want him to have to hear it from her. She knew he deserved better than that and was hoping Portia would do the right thing.
Will Portia regret now going to bat for Jordan when she learns she’s making a case for Curtis to reconsider how he feels about his ex-wife? When Stella lets Curtis know that Jordan also wasn’t responsible for the misplaced and non-filed divorce papers, but that she did that and Jordan merely covered for her, Curtis really might reconsider whether he may have painted Jordan with too broad of a brush when he filed for divorce in the first place.
