General Hospital (GH) spoilers and updates reveals, it is hard to remember a time when Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) weren’t a loving mother and daughter.

Sam and Alexis are super-close and would do anything for each other. Sam and sisters Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) and Molly Lansing Davis (Haley Pullos) always have their mom’s back.

Things weren’t always so great for the Davis women. Before they knew of their parent-child relationship, there was a time when Sam hated Alexis, probably even more than Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) hates Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).

Alexis had a one-night stand with mobster Julian Jerome (William deVry) as a teenager and became pregnant. Her father, Mikkos Cassadine gave the baby up for adoption and told his daughter that she had died.

Years later, Alexis tried to persuade a pregnant Sam into having her baby two weeks early to get her stem cells to save her daughter Kristina’s life. Sam collapsed and her baby Lila was stillborn. She blamed Alexis.

Alexis then defended a serial killer who was tormenting Sam and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).

The final straw was when Alexis received the last dose of the encephalitis antidote instead of Sam’s brother Danny who ultimately died from the disease.

When Sam and Jason searched for her biological mother, they discovered that it just happened to be the one person Sam despised, Alexis Davis.

It was not easy. Sam did not want to accept the fact that Alexis was really her mother.

Jason was the one who broke the news to Alexis, who had a hard time believing it because she was told her baby was dead. Once she realized the truth, she ran to Sam, who was in the hospital with a gunshot wound. Her daughter called her “mom” for the first time.

They moved forward from there. Little by little, they formed a wonderful relationship. They are there for each other through it all.

There is drama between them as well. Sam took a strong stance with her mom when she was battling alcoholism. Alexis would not have made it through without all three of her daughters.

Nina recently became emotional with Sam about her long-lost daughter. Willow wants nothing to do with her newly found mom, just like Sam years ago.

In a similar circumstance, there was animosity between Willow and Nina way before the truth came out.

Now Nina wants that bond with her daughter but, as Sam and Alexis know, it doesn’t come easy. At the moment, it looks like Willow will never accept Nina. But there was a time that no one would believe that Alexis and Sam would ever have any type of relationship.

Nina can look to the Davis girls as hope and inspiration, but we never know what will happen on General Hospital. Continue watching to see if Willow will never accept Nina.
