First, she leapt to the conclusion that Willow was cheating on Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell); then she caused Willow to collapse; and now Nina has accused Michael of being so selfish that he somehow forced Willow to forgo chemotherapy for months for the betterment of their unborn child. Nevertheless, as she waits for word from General Hospital as to whether or not Willow is going to be okay, there’s nothing she wants more than a positive report. Is this really all about Wiley not losing yet another mother, or does Nina stand to lose something, too?
A few years ago, Willow came to Port Charles seeking a new life after placing her only child up for adoption. Running from her upbringing in a cult, Willow wanted better for her own children, and she’s found that with Michael and now as a nurse at GH. That’s not how it started for her, though.
According to GH spoilers, Willow was a teacher when she first relocated to Port Chuck, and Charlotte Cassadine (Amelie McLain) was one of her students. At that time, Nina was still married to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), and she and Willow did not see eye to eye on Charlotte’s behavior, home life, or school work.
Now that Willow is fighting for her life, Nina is going to feel much like she’s in a similar fight of her own. Maternal instincts to protect Willow are going to overcome Nina in the hours after learning Willow is her daughter, and she will come to realize she felt that way long before she knew. It was never hate she felt for Willow but concern, and now she wants to save her life and give them both a shot at actually knowing one another in the way they intended — as mother and daughter. Is that what Willow will want though?
Being told she had no right to a relationship with her own grandson was painful enough for Nina, and she is constantly reminded that she isn’t allowed to have that by watching Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) carry on with his familial attachments in front of her. But now Nina is going to be faced with the most remarkable surprise she could possibly receive — she has another daughter, and this one is still alive.
Nina will likely do anything to repair her relationship with Willow now that she knows they are mother and child, but Willow isn’t necessarily going to feel the same way. Finding out they are related doesn’t undo what Nina has done, from Willow’s perspective. Is there any way around this, and will Nina’s bone marrow donation bridge the gap and allow them to heal? Stay tuned for more General Hospital news and spoilers to find out.
