General Hospital (GH) spoilers and updates for Monday, May 1 tease risks versus rewards, lives versus loss, and surveillance versus setups! Laura Collins (Genie Francis) takes risks that may pay rewards, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) reminds of lives versus loss and Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) plays surveillance for setups.
In Greenland, the rescue team may be in trouble as Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) guards find Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) dropped satellite phone. It started to ring as Valentin, Curtis Ashford, (Donnell Turner) Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Laura hid behind a large boulder. They know they must come up with a workable plan and quickly, although it may involve huge risks.
Laura knows if the risks they take bring the rewards of rescued hostages, it will be worth it. Laura tells Drew that they’ll give Victor exactly what he’s asking for.
Back in Port Charles, Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) overheard part of the conversation in Anna’s hospital room. Jordan Ashford,(Tanisha Harper) Andre Maddox (Anthony Montgomery) and Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) were talking about the rescue team and what was at stake, namely Victor having a dangerous engineered virus. Scott wants to get the WSB on the scene right away, not wanting to lose Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and the rest.
Anna has to explain that if Scott sics the WSB on Victor at the location right now, many more lives will be at stake, and the concept of lives versus loss. They had just finished talking about the WSB wanting to preserve the greater good and the lives of the few would be sacrificed for the good of the many.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Willow and Michael Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen, Chad Duell) talk about the situation Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Drew find themselves in. Someone reported Carly and Drew to the Securities and Exchange Commission for insider trading, and although they let Carly go, that’s not the end of it. Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) bought Drew and the team some time by sending the SEC on a wild goose chase, but they’ll eventually figure that out. Knowing Michael’s still fraught relationship with Sonny, Willow asks him it doesn’t account for something, presumably Sonny’s buying time for Liesl’s rescue and Willow’s bone marrow transplant? Michael still looks very tense, blaming Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) for their troubles.
Elsewhere, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) meets with Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) and he wants to know what was so important she wanted to see him the moment he landed? Previously, she’d made a call to him to make an anonymous whistleblower report to the SEC about Carly and Drew, but now she’s regretting it. Nina didn’t think past her offense and hurt at not being invited to Michael and Willow’s wedding, and obviously knew nothing about the rescue plan near Greenland. It’s going to be too late to reverse the snowball that is rapidly picking up speed and is affecting all those she loves in extremely negative ways!
Meanwhile, down in the bunker in the makeshift lab, Victor glares at a grudgingly cooperative Liesl, and tells her he has complete faith she can do just that. He wants her to make antidotes for the lethal airborne pathogen to try out on her guinea pigs, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali). Liesl is obviously trying to buy time telling Victor that progress is not going as fast as he’d like.
However, Victor is suspicious that Liesl is stalling, and that’s exactly what she’s doing. First she was told to create a vaccine and now she’s being told an antidote.
In the warehouse where the meeting with the Pikeman group is taking place, Dex snuck a camera in and fooled Brick (Stephen A. Smith) as he stuck it on a toolbox. While Brick turned his back as knocks came on the door, Dex is playing surveillance for setups, recording Sonny and others in the act of illegal arms trade. However, Dex has a hard time holding his emotion in when Sonny tells him he’ll take all the risk-he’s a little torn after Sonny saved his life. But if all goes as Michael planned it, this is the last time he’ll have to be two-faced with Sonny.
