GH Spoilers Monday, January 23: Challenges, Difficult Truths, Confrontations

General Hospital (GH) spoilers for Monday, January 23 tease challenges, truths and confrontations in Port Charles. Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) questions if someone’s up to a challenge, Cameron Webber (William Lipton) faces the truth, and Ava Jerome (Maura West) confronts Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey).

General Hospital Spoilers – Spencer Cassadine’s Surprise

At Sonny’s penthouse, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) surprises his uncle Sonny with the news he’s fighting for custody of his baby sibling, yet to be born. Sonny obviously wonders if Spencer’s up to the challenge, and dares him by telling him what he’s saying proves he can’t. If Spencer has his way, neither Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) or Esmé Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) will have anything to do with their baby.

Spencer doesn’t want his baby brother or sister to endure the heartache he has by being raised by his father. Obviously, he thinks Esmé is unfit to parent her baby and he’s fighting that as well.

GH Spoilers – Difficult Truths

At Josslyn Jacks’ (Eden McCoy) dorm room, Cameron faces a difficult truth after getting an unpleasant surprise, namely walking in on Joss and Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) half dressed. Cameron looks Josslyn in the eye and asks her flat out if Dex it the reason that they broke up. He had rushed over to talk to her after finding out at Kelly’s that Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) has leukemia, knowing Joss would be affected. Cameron really shouldn’t be shocked that Josslyn grew apart from him because of her secret attraction to Dex-Spencer had mentioned his name.

General Hospital Spoilers – Confrontations

At the hospital, Ava Jerome (Maura West) finds she and Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) have common ground as she recognizes Mason. She confronts Mason, telling him he was most definitely there, and considering Austin and she were talking about plastic surgery for her Hook scars, that’s where she knows him from. Mason most definitely was at the Quartermaine picnic where Ava was The Hook’s first attack victim, as he felt Ava was a threat to his “family business.”

Ava had overheard Mason and Austin talking, and Mason had followed her through the woods that day. Later, as she stood on the deck of the Quartermaine boathouse, someone went inside, grabbed a gaffing hook off the wall and attacked her from behind!

GH Spoilers – Elizabeth Baldwin Gets A Shock

At Kelly’s, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) gets a shock after her mother Carolyn Webber (Denise Crosby) suddenly appeared wanting to make amends. Elizabeth certainly wasn’t expecting her mom to come to Port Charles, and now they are semi arguing. Carolyn tries to excuse her actions by saying “I loved him,” ostensibly referring to Liz’s father, Jeff Webber (William Moses). Elizabeth wants to know if her mother loved him more than he loved her, a fair question.

General Hospital Spoilers – Nikolas Cassadine Needs His Mother’s Support

Laura Collins (Genie Francis) obviously walked in on Nikolas after the zinger Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) just leveled, handing Nikolas a set of divorce papers and evicting him.  Ava demanded Spoon Island and Wyndemere for not telling what she knows about Nikolas’ keeping Esmé prisoner and throwing her off the parapet. Victor also has an assortment of proof of Esmé’s captivity he’s blackmailing Nikolas with to preserve the family name.

Nikolas will ask for his mother’s support as she walks in and asks him if something just happened. Maybe now he’ll take her up on her offer of a clean slate for taking down Victor.

GH Spoilers – A Mother’s Promise

Laura isn’t the only Mama Bear promising to take care of her own, as Heather Webber (Alley Mills) makes a promise of protection to Esmé at Spring Ridge. She tells Esmé she has nothing to worry about now or ever again, although Esmé looks a little skeptical. Esmé may be reacting to seeing Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) who will also come to Spring Ridge and give Heather a deadline to get information from Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom). Esmé may not realize who Heather is to her, but she’s starting to respond more positively.
