As Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) continue to pray for peace, it remains to be seen whether these two can both lay down their arms and refrain from having the last word, so to speak. When Sonny learns that Michael intended to betray him in one of the most unspeakable ways, it might not be something he’s able to overlook. In return, Sonny could grapple with his own plot for revenge, and it would certainly leave Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) wondering how much longer she can stomach this relationship.
Michael is in a tough spot. On one hand, he’s got a bone to pick with his dad. Alright, he wants to put him away for life. The guy is a mobster, after all. On the other hand, Willow is battling stage four leukemia and that experience has really turned Michael’s world upside down.
Suddenly, he’s seen the value of family more clearly than ever before. It’s tough to be at odds with someone he’s been calling family for his entire life. So it’s not surprising that Michael is inching closer to making peace with his dear old dad — especially with Willow pushing for it. She knows that Michael’s loyalty to his mom is fueling his anger, and she will turn to Carly for help. Meanwhile, Nina might be doing the same — hoping for the same peace between herself and Willow.
Perhaps time really does heal all wounds. Michael has been putting up a good front for a while, but he’s eventually going to admit that he’s seen another side to his father. Maybe it’s the gray hairs or the fact that the mob boss seems to have mellowed out since his hiatus in Nixon Falls — not that Michael will lend any credit to Nina for smoothing the guy out.
Whatever the reason, Michael might start to soften towards Sonny. It’s a refreshing change of pace from the endless vendetta we’ve seen so far. Perhaps soon, he’ll give their father-son relationship another chance. He’s going to have to make it snappy if he wants to give that reassurance to Willow though that their family will remain intact no matter what happens to her.
Just when the dust settles and Michael and Sonny finally start to recoup their losses as father and son, the mob boss is going to catch onto Michael’s prior plan with Dex Heller (Evan Hofer). This is going to cut deep, and Sonny isn’t known for brushing his pain under the rug. Even family will pay a price if they cross him. Does this mean he’ll cut Michael and Willow out of his life?
What kind of future would such a move spell for him and Nina? Speaking of…Nina will be left feeling bewildered by the sudden transformation in Sonny’s character. As Carly predicted, it appears that whoever he was in Nixon Falls will completely leave the building. Even Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) tried to sound the alarm bells, but Nina didn’t want to hear it. Will she be able to reconcile her feelings for him as the man she fell in love with slowly slips away into the darkness?
