Namely, his obsession with taking down his father, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Fully recognizing the damage this would inflict upon his family and still being willing to see it through is a bold move on Michael’s part, and his bride, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen), clearly doesn’t agree with his tactics.
When Michael carries out his plan to rid Port Charles of Sonny’s empire, he won’t consider that he may not have planned things out as cleanly as he should have. A mix of clues left behind could lead Sonny straight to his own son’s door. This is going to be problematic for Carly as she tries to stem the hemorrhaging from inside her family unit.
Everything is set to go down rather seamlessly, or so Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) says. The truth is, we still don’t know what Dex’s real motives are. He recently asked Josslyn ‘Joss’ Jacks (Eden McCoy) whether she wanted him to go through with the takedown against her former stepdad or not.
This was an interesting inquiry on Dex’s part, given that Michael has tried to back out a few times and Dex refused to give up. It’s possible that Dex could have his own agenda, as well as connections to Sonny that even the mob boss doesn’t know about.
We’ll find out later, for sure, but in the meantime, Dex could be setting the stage for all of this to blow back on Michael in a major way.
There might not be a more painful betrayal Sonny has ever felt than learning that his own son tried to get him thrown in lock-up. Alright, his other son – Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) — actually did that before, but they didn’t know they were father and son at the time.
Consequently, Sonny shot Dante. We could hope that things would go differently this time around, but Carly may not have that kind of confidence when she sees the rage and pain in Sonny’s eyes. She knows what he can be like when he can’t get a handle on his feelings.
Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) won’t like it one bit when Carly won’t shoo. There’s nothing quite like having a man’s ex-wife around as a third wheel to put a pin in any and all romance. Not to mention, Carly and Nina are hardly friends.
Mortal enemies until the end, Nina may not like it but she’ll recognize quickly that she isn’t equipped to deal with Sonny at his worst the way that Carly is — as much as it pains her to admit it. Will Carly be able to stop Sonny from retaliating against Michael?
Does Mikey really deserve her protection, or is this also about protecting the mob boss from regret — something else Carly knows he doesn’t handle well? Keep checking back with us for more GH news and spoilers just ahead.
