She only seems to keep digging deeper into the hole she’s gotten herself into, and self-sabotage might be a big theme she and Kevin uncover in therapy. What is it she’s going to talk to him about though while she’s juggling so many secrets and lies?
The last time Elizabeth sought Kevin’s help with her emotional issues, she held back quite a lot because she didn’t want him to know the person in her visions was Hamilton Finn’s (Michael Easton) late wife, Reiki Finn (Mele Ihara). This time around, she may find herself playing the same exhausting game, because she certainly won’t be inclined to tell Kevin she was having an affair with Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma), which produced a pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage.
But she’s also not going to be comfortable telling him she never had an affair yet made one up, along with a fake pregnancy and pretend miscarriage, to boot! Something tells us she’ll share her version of the truth that lies somewhere in the middle. Where things will get muddy is that Kevin won’t be able to disclose anything she tells her as it is protected by doctor-patient confidentiality. On the other hand, his wife, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) will be mixed up in her son, Nikolas’ lies, with Kevin powerless to step in.
Elizabeth agreed to Nikolas’ plan of keeping Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) locked up at Wyndemere only because she thought Esme was The Hook. In her mind, she justified holding her captive because she would be protecting all the citizens of Port Charles, including her own family, in doing so. Likewise, she would have protected Nikolas and his baby by allowing Esme to give birth and hand the baby over to Nik, versus sending her to prison to have the baby there.
Now that Elizabeth knows Esme cannot be The Hook — given The Hook killed Rory Cabrera (Michael Blake Kruse) while Esme was still locked up — she’s having second thoughts about this whole plan but doesn’t know a way out of it without turning herself in. She may tell Kevin that she’s gotten herself into a terrible mess in the pursuit of protecting her family, and the only way to undo it is to put all of them at risk. Could Elizabeth be ready to confess to her crimes?
More than anything, Elizabeth can’t stomach the way she has left her relationship with Finn. Clearly, the couple was doomed months ago. The problem was never that Elizabeth harmed Reiko. The problem was that she hid the truth from Finn and didn’t want to tell him. Once again, she stumbled upon a new problem with Nik and Esme, and instead of opening up to Finn, she iced him out — just like she did when she was having lapses in time and thought Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) was haunting her.
Still, Elizabeth respects Finn too much to let him go on believing things went down this way and that she cheated on him. Furthermore, Finn is all too curious about a few things that don’t add up, and his pursuit of the truth is going to weigh heavily on Elizabeth.
