First, Liesl insists that for health and safety reasons, she’ll need a separate syringe for each person who is to be inoculated against the pathogen. She will need to prefill each syringe for each person, with the individual syringes to be placed in a hazardous waste container after use. Victor objects-he’s suspicious that Liesl’s going to put placebo in some of the syringes-namely his, and those important to keep alive, like his key henchmen.
Liesl refuses to comply with making up the vaccines if she cannot prevent disease from passing from one person to another, or keep to standard hospital protocol. She reminds Victor that she knows what she’s doing and one needle cannot be used for multiple people-it’s best it’s not coming out of only one vaccine vial as well; cross-contamination.
Victor’s right about one thing-he shouldn’t trust Liesl-and his and the henchmens’ jabs will be different. Liesl has figured out different proportions in one batch of each component will cause fast-acting lethal side effects, the other batch will provide immunity to the pathogen. He’s also right about Liesl in another area besides her medical expertise and experience-she knows how to drive a yacht and will be able to navigate back to Port Charles!
Now she just has to convince Victor that the separate shots are best, anticipating he’ll want her to be the guinea pig. Liesl knows that time is of the essence, not just to rid the world of the pathogen named Victor Cassadine, but to get back to Port Charles to save her grandniece. Being able to save Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) with her bone marrow is just as important to her as saving the world from Victor’s evil plan!
As Liesl anticipated, once she’s convinced Victor that the separate syringes are necessary for the success of the inoculations, she lays them out in order – hers, Victor’s, the henchmen’s, Spencer Cassadine’s (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and Ace Prince-Cassadine’s (Joey and Jay Clay). She explains they are different doses for different size bodies, she cannot use the same dose for Ace as for a grown man, for instance.
Liesl did create some viable vaccine for the pathogen, just in case, and Spencer, Ace and one for Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) also, to be administered afterwards. But as for Liesl’s shot, it is pure placebo; she knows that Willow cannot wait for yet more medication to be out of Liesl’s system to donate her bone marrow!
