Viewers should remember that portrait of Helena that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) took down because Charlotte Cassadine (AnaSofia Bianchi) was creeped out.
Charlotte, then a very small child, was afraid of the creepy looking lady drinking tea in the portrait, so Valentin, hating Helena anyway, got rid of it.
He didn’t know at the time that a codicil to Mikkos Cassadine’s (John Colicos) will, disinheriting him, was behind the portrait; Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) was looking for it.
Eventually, that portrait wound up being auctioned off at Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) art gallery-it spontaneously combusted, taking the mystery of the man reflected in the teapot with it.
Luckily for Nikolas at the time, Ava had found the codicil and removed it from the portrait-but the man in the teapot was always suspected to be Nikolas.
Laura still hasn’t heard from Nikolas and Spencer and Ace Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Joey and Jay Clay) are still Victor’s captives, but now Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) wants it played.
Everyone wonders if there could be something on the end of the message from Helena that could provide clues to Victor’s plans-now that they know he was alive at the time.
The Ice Princess had been important to Victor and so had something called Operation Demeter, which Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) had been looking for information on.
Laura decides that maybe the time has come to try and get some answers, even though she expects it to only be more head games.
Victor already violated the terms of his immunity deal when he stole The Haunted Star and kidnapped Liesl Obrecht, (Kathleen Gati) and Spencer and Ace. But Helena’s last message does indeed reveal something about Victor, and exonerates Nikolas as the man in the teapot, Helena revealing him as Victor.
It never was Nikolas who poisoned his grandmother’s tea in her last days, as she had lived in Wyndemere with him and Spencer as a little boy.
It was Victor who’d poisoned her all along, and not only that, he was the father of her daughter, Irina Cassadine (Alyshia Ochse) who she’d murdered. Victor was more evil than Helena herself, and that’s why she never told him he’d had a daughter.
