GH Spoilers: Fans Are Tired Of Austin’s Wishy Washy Character — Here’s Why

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal viewers are feeling like Roger Howarth’s latest character to set foot in Port Charles — Austin Gatlin Holt — is growing quite stale.

No one can seem to get a pulse on this guy. From his questionable past, to his tumultuous relationships with women, to his shifty family ties, Austin seems to be a man of many faces.

Few really know him, but that makes the most sense of anything in his life since he appears to have no friends, no social life, and no more ties to Pauatuk, from which he hailed.

Despite being in Port Chuck for quite a while now, Austin’s character hasn’t developed much, and fans are asking: What gives?

General Hospital Spoilers — A Real Quartermaine?

When we first met him as Austin, fans were still mourning the loss of Franco Baldwin — Roger Howarth’s second character on the show.

Still, viewers welcomed the fresh start, but Austin’s insistence that he was a Quartermaine kicked up dust with the family — right up until he decided to give up, give in, and never mention it again.

His approach with Leo Quartermaine (Easton Rocket Sweda) and reference to his own special needs brother hinted that maybe we would meet his family, but instead, we’ve only come to know his shady cousin, Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey) — and that he and his mother had ties to Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) going way back — neither of which seem to crossover with the Q’s in any way.

GH Spoilers – Exclaim He’s Playing A Game

Initially, Austin took some jabs at Mason and said he wanted no part of work for the “boss lady” anymore, but in recent weeks, we saw that spontaneously shift to an elusive male character, which ended up being Cyrus.

There have been other ladies in Austin’s life though. First, we saw him couple up with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) after having assisted her when she gave birth in the middle of the Pautauk woods.

Their relationship never mounted much chemistry, and it crashed and burned when Austin decided to blackmail Damien Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and attempt to manipulate Maxie.

His strange interest in whether or not she was compatible with him, per Spin’s matchmaking software, was odd, given that that storyline never went anywhere either. Once again, what was the point?

General Hospital Spoilers — Make It Make Sense

Fans are beyond tired of the circular storylines that lead nowhere for Austin and everyone attached to him. His relationship with Maxie was a colossal waste of time that seemed to have no purpose.

When it looked like Spinelli was about to get to the bottom of what he was up to, it all fizzled out into nothing.

Austin came to Port Charles claiming he wanted out of the mob, and at some point after jumping in to act as a hero to Ava Jerome (Maura West), he clearly ended up wrapped up back in it — only to once again declare he wants “out.”

Whatever that means, it’s obvious that Austin has an agenda, and it remains a complete mystery if it is his own.
