GH Spoilers: Drew Reluctantly Sets A Trap, Carly Falls Right Into It

General Hospital spoilers suggest Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) have been over the moon enjoying their new romance — and likely enjoying sneaking around a bit, too. But all of that is about to come to a screeching halt as Drew starts to suspect something else is going on with Carly that threatens the very foundation of their friendship and new status as a couple.

According to GH spoilers, Drew has been working tirelessly to track down Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) birth parents, and he’s been under the impression Carly was supportive of that goal and willing to help him succeed at it. When he finds out she may have played a role in why he keeps ending up back at square one, it’s going to turn their entire relationship on its head.

Drew is going to stumble upon a new lead soon that takes him in a direction he never expected — right back to Port Charles. It’s not quite time yet for him to discover the truth about Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) being Willow’s long lost birth mother, but he is going to find a new lead from someone in Port Charles.

Could it be Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy)? It might also be someone we didn’t know was connected to the story until now. Either way, when he unearths this clue — which might be pitched to him by someone else — it’s going to conflict with information Carly gave him. Initially, he might think the other party is lying, but if they’re able to prove themselves, it’s going to leave Carly in quite a predicament where the whole house of cards she’s built may come tumbling down.

When Drew senses that Carly might be lying to him, he’s going to be compelled to confront her head-on, but that little voice inside of him will nag at him that letting Carly know he’s onto her might not be a good idea.

Every part of him will wish to find out that he’s wrong and expect to feel rather silly when he does for questioning Carly, but just in case, he’s going to keep his concerns to himself and intentionally set a trap hoping she doesn’t take the bait. When he gives her information on a potential new lead, it’s going to be fictitious — mostly, anyway. Could it be that Drew suspects Carly was involved with Denise Makenzie (Alice Rietveld) and coached her to lie? Maybe he wants to test the waters and see if she’ll do it again.

Carly has no idea Drew is onto her, despite being paranoid that he could become aware of her tampering with his investigation into Willow’s background. He isn’t going to connect the dot just yet about why she would be this messy. He’s just focused on hoping he’s wrong.

But when Carly does just what he hoped she wouldn’t, it’s going to blow his investigation and their relationship apart. Drew will quickly realize the only possible reason for Carly to have betrayed him and Willow this way was because she lied to him about Nina being Willow’s birth mother all those months ago. The bigger question remains: will he tell Nina and Willow the truth, or will he give Carly the chance to come clean?
