Now, he’s falling in love with Josslyn ‘Joss’ Jacks (Eden McCoy) and is concerned that he won’t be able to have a relationship with her unless Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is locked up.
That’s easier said than done though. Recent developments in Dex’s relationship with Sonny have him thinking that mob life may be exactly where he’s needed most.
When Deputy Mayor Eileen Ashby (Heather Mazur) washes up dead in the harbor, Dex will be the lucky guy who gets to pull her corpse out of the icy waters.
It looks like corruption is heating up in Port Charles, and Dex will wonder if his boss had anything to do with the city official’s death. Of course, nothing will be traced back to Sonny, but nothing ever is.
At the same time, Dex can’t help but think Sonny is still shielding him from the truth about the Pikeman shipment and he doesn’t understand why he started getting wishy-washy on him a few weeks back.
Whatever the reason, he seems to have reversed course now, which should make Dex feel more secure in their arrangement, but it won’t.
Maybe Joss was right. Sonny’s world is rather dangerous, and that will become more apparent when Sonny isn’t keen on Dex rescuing a corpse from the water.
The last thing the mob boss needs is the police asking why his young associate’s DNA is all over her body, or suggesting that it was there before she entered the water.
Sonny sure does luck out finding good Samaritans who are also contract killers and criminal operators. When Dex considers pulling back from his involvement with Sonny prematurely, he’ll talk himself into doing just the opposite — scaling back even further on his contact with Joss. What gives?
Dex has never seen a dead body before outside of war, and now they’re piling up all around him. The recent sniper incident left blood on his hands and he’s worried that the longer he stays involved with Sonny, the more complicit he becomes in his crimes.
What if this is one of them and he doesn’t even know it? Would his boss set him up to take the fall if he suspects Dex hasn’t been honest with him or has betrayed his orders? He can’t afford to mess this up or let his anxiety eat him alive, so cutting Joss out of his life, for now, may be the only way for him to move forward with any semblance of peace.
