GH Spoilers: Ava Came Clean To Sonny, But Austin Has Other Plans In Mind

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Ava Jerome (Maura West) is about to find herself in a serious bind — and just when she thought the worst of it all was behind her. With a web of secrets and lies surrounding her, she grappled with the decision to come clean to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), the father of her child. As her relationship with Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) intensifies, Ava must confront the consequences of her actions.

Despite Austin’s exuberance over their relationship, Ava is less than excited about their romantic entanglement at Wyndemere. She has a history of putting up barriers after failed relationships, and her tumultuous connection with Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) served as proof to her that she’s better off alone. Austin may leave her feeling like that is more true now than ever when he relays exactly what is bound to happen in the wake of Mason Gatlin’s (Nathanyael Grey) death.

Understanding Sonny’s protective nature, Ava realized that he would swiftly eliminate the threat Mason poses if she told him the truth. Knowing this, she put her child’s safety over her personal fears and exposed her truth to Sonny. She believes that he is the one person who can help her navigate the treacherous waters she finds herself in since killing her ex-husband and getting entangled with the Gatlin family, who clearly have it out for Sonny and his empire. Sonny isn’t going to let anything happen to Ava or her mother, and most certainly not to Avery Corinthos (Grace Scarola). But Ava may not have thought this through.

Ava has always been an enigmatic character. Her ability to build walls and shield herself from emotional turmoil is well-known. However, her recent involvement with Austin has left her torn between her desire for honesty and her fear of the consequences. She thought she had it all figured out when she came clean with Sonny and let him move into position to take care of everything for her. But Sonny is a man of his word and he doesn’t waste time messing around. He’s likely to put a hit out on Mason instantaneously, and that’s going to leave Ava in a tight spot. Moreover, it’s going to infuriate Austin — who subjected himself to the same persecution by helping Ava hide Nikolas’ body.

Sonny knew when he met with Ava and Austin for lunch with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) that something was off. He couldn’t put his finger on it at the time but now it all makes sense. However, when Sonny has Mason killed, it’s not going to dawn on Ava that it means whatever he did with Nikolas’ body remains a mystery. Of course, none of them know Nik is actually alive. This could serve as the perfect opportunity for Nikolas to go rogue, and if Austin knows that truth, he may have to reveal it to Ava now. That should go over well.
