If she were to go to him and start asking questions about the federal defense contractor he’s working with, he would be highly suspicious. Not only is that information private, but Ava has never questioned him about his business before and it would be completely out of the norm for both of them. Unfortunately for her, Mason and Austin don’t seem to be reasonable people who are willing to accept that reality.
