This wouldn’t be the first time Alexis took someone under her wing as a pet project. In fact, she still shoves Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) back under there from time to time when she’s in the mood to meddle.

Maybe Alexis is just bored, but something tells us she has more motivation to assist Esme that lurks beneath the surface.

In fact, she may not even be fully aware of just what it is that draws her nearer to the young woman, but time will reveal that.

It’s possible that Alexis sees a good bit of herself in Esme. Of course, Esme’s life has taken a much different course than Alexis’ did.

But she knows how it feels to come from catastrophic parents. She knows what it’s like to battle those demons and wonder whether she is doomed to turn out just like her father.

She is all too familiar with blaming her problems on the people closest to her, latching onto the wrong people in hopes of being loved enough to feel like she’s a changed woman without having to do any of the changing herself.

Maybe she sees Esme headed for the same road and wants to make sure she has some sound guidance. No harm, no foul?

Sooner or later, Esme will be out of Laura Collins’ (Genie Francis) place, and it’s possible that it’ll leave her on bad terms with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez).

Will Alexis take Esme and baby Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) in — becoming their safe harbor while she explores how she really feels about the rest of the Cassadine family?

It’s not an unlikely plot line, given that no one else in town would dare to take her in. Besides, things are heating up between Spencer and Esme, and that can’t end well.
