General Hospital Star Josh Kelly On Where Cody Goes From Here

General Hospital made an attempt to make Cody Bell and Britt Westbourne happen, but several things got in the way and now Cody needs to find a new direction on the soap.

Fans just didn’t find anything interesting between Cody and Britt and felt their chemistry was non-existent and the pairing was forced. Whether the show would have tried to push their relationship more had Kelly Thiebaud not opted to leave GH, but with Thiebaud gone and Britt really and most sincerely dead, the point is moot.

Cody is without a love interest and has to move on and GH has to find something new to do with the character. We have seen some chemistry testing between Cody and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), as well as Cody and Sasha Gilmore Corbin (Sofia Mattsson), but the character does have some unresolved backstory that has nothing to do with romance at all.

First, he shares a secret with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) from their adolescent days in summer camp. He is also Mac Scorpio’s (John J. York) son and is now keeping that a secret from Mac. And that story needs to go somewhere.

As Cody sits on the Mac secret, Josh Kelly relishes the fact that he plays this character’s son.

“I got really excited when I found out that Mac Scorpio was going to be my dad because when I used to watch the show when my sister when we were younger, I always thought he looked cool,” Kelly said in the January 23, 2023, issue of Soap Opera Digest. He also added that Mac and the friendship he has with Dante is what will keep Cody in PC.

“I think he always felt he didn’t belong anywhere, but if he belongs anywhere, it’s Port Charles,” Kelly said. “He’s got Dante and Mac and Mac’s whole family…He really does like Mac’s family and wants to stay friends with Mac even though he lied about the paternity test”

Eventually, all of Cody’s secrets are bound to come out or it wouldn’t be a soap opera, so who will Mac react to learning Cody lied about such a monumental thing all so he could get his hands on a diamond necklace he was not entitled to at all?
